The Rescue Diver course will change the way you dive – in the best possible way. Learn to identify and fix minor issues before they become big problems, gain a lot of confidence and have serious fun along the way.
The Rescue Diver course prepares you to deal with diving emergencies, major and minor, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue drills, you put your knowledge and skills into practice. Topics include:
- Self-rescue
- Recognizing and managing distress in other divers
- Emergency and equipment management
- Rescue panicked divers
- Rescue unconscious divers
Must have PADI Advanced Open Water certification and be at least 15 years old.
The PADI Rescue Diver course elevates your diving by focusing on problem prevention and underwater emergency management. It is an intensive training that enables you to react to any crisis situation, either with yourself (self-rescue) or with a buddy. Through knowledge development and realistic rescue simulations, you will learn crucial techniques such as recognizing distress, managing emergency equipment, and rescuing panicked or unconscious divers. This course is the step that will give you maximum confidence in your skills, making you a much safer, more responsible, and better-equipped dive buddy to help others.
The course is intensely based on "Rescue Simulations" in real-life scenarios. Instead of just learning theory or practicing isolated skills, a large part of the course consists of acting out simulated situations (such as rescuing a panicked or unconscious diver in open water), which forces you to apply the knowledge under stress for more effective training.
It is considered by many to be the most challenging, but most rewarding, PADI course. Unlike other levels, this one focuses on prevention, self-care, and assisting others. It prepares you to handle everything from small problems to major rescues, transforming you into a safer, more attentive, and responsible diver.
Mainly practical! Although there is knowledge development, most of the course focuses on practicing rescue exercises and simulations in confined waters and, above all, in open waters. The goal is for rescue techniques to become instinctive.
You need to have at least the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or an equivalent certification) and, mandatory, a valid CPR and First Aid training (such as the EFR course) within the last 24 months.
You will learn to prevent problems before they occur and to manage stress (yours and others'). You will move from focusing only on your own diving to being fully aware of your surroundings and your buddies, transforming you into an effective rescuer and gaining unwavering confidence.
The PADI Rescue Diver is a mandatory requirement and the essential foundation for those aspiring to a professional career, being the step immediately prior to the PADI Divemaster course.
